https://sharonlohrmannphotography.zenfolio.com/blog en-us (C) Sharon Lohrmann Photography [email protected] (Sharon Lohrmann Photography) Mon, 16 Mar 2020 06:33:00 GMT Mon, 16 Mar 2020 06:33:00 GMT https://sharonlohrmannphotography.zenfolio.com/img/s/v-12/u207311579-o651751394-50.jpg https://sharonlohrmannphotography.zenfolio.com/blog 90 120 https://sharonlohrmannphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2013/7/hiking-in-the-catskills Nature photography does require a bit of flexibility and on my last trip to the Catskills NY, rain was the order of the day.  On the bright side though rain gives us flowing streams and lush flora resulting in beautiful waterfall images.  This image is from a very historic trail located between Phoenicia and Hunter.  Known as Diamond Notch, it was originally used by Mohawk Tribes to travel from valley to valley.  Later the trail was converted to a carriage road.  If you pay attention, there are places along the trail where rocks were scarred by carriages.  An incredibly beautiful walk, the trail peaks around 3600' then descends down the west side of the mountain to West Kills Falls.  This portion of the stream is at the beginning of the trail on the east side.
